Susan Begy was born in Rochester, NY, has lived in Los Angeles and various places in the US, and now lives and works in Santa Fe, NM and Brooklyn, NY. She received an MFA in fine arts from School of Visual Arts in New York City in 2010 and a BFA in studio art from Western State College of Colorado. Begy’s recent sculptures and drawings begin with a narrative that takes place within a given structure and explore triadic relationships and concepts. Sensual/ Scientific/Spiritual. Nurturance/Governance/Destruction. Dramatic/Technological/Idealistic. Desire/Discovery/Denial. Past/Present/Future. The narrative surrenders to form and process, blurring as the materials take center stage. Her sculpture design was displayed at the Grand Palais in Paris and purchased by Noilly Prat in Marseillan, France. Her work has been exhibited at the California Heritage Museum as well as galleries throughout the United States, and is included in corporate collections in the U.S. and Canada.
